A true treasure, this antique Victorian-era book will delight with a collection of celebrated authors and artists on the subject of the pet of the family –“stories, sketches, poems and pictures for the youth.” Although all the stories are not about horses, they are about children and the love of animals of all kinds and you will be smitten by the first page. This book is in delicate but good condition, with all pages intact although yellowed with age. The illustration are clear and the color ones are vibrant. There is separation of the pages about 1/3 through but only in that section (see picture), the inside covers are a bit worn in spots and there is one page that is out of order but I cannot find where it belongs in the book. Published by W.B. Conkey Co, New York, name written on inside front cover, hardcover, 150 pages, 1896.
