If you know vintage clothing, you probably know the Handmacher label – founded and run by Alvin Handmacher in 1939, this label was once the largest suit maker in the United States. Perfecting the assembly-line production methods, each sewer was trained to become an expert in one facet of the suit’s construction – and the quality and tailoring was impeccable. Alvin died in 1966 and the line continued until about 1990, but it was never the same without him. This fine jacket is exquisitely tailored and incredibly flattering, perfectly chic when worn with your riding breeches and boots for that urban-equestrian appeal. Rich cobalt blue in a wool blended fabric with triangle black button front – can be worn with the collar open or closed – purple acetate lining, nipped waist with peplum skirt, big shoulder pads, excellent condition. Made in USA, marked size 4, Handmacher label, 1950s. The following measurements were taken with the garment lying FLAT and recorded in inches, please be sure and DOUBLE the appropriate measurements: Shoulders: 15 ½, chest: 17, waist: 14 ½, hips: 17, length: 23, sleeve: 22
