Vintage SyrocoWood Equestrian Horseshoe bookends – 1930s

These fabulous bookends offer excellent equestrian details, from the finely sculpted reins and bridle to the board fence and grass texture, what I would call a work of art! These bookends are made from SyrocoWood, a material that looks and feels like wood but was shaped through a compression molding process, with the molds made from original carvings in real wood. This material was in high demand in the 1900-1920s and was the mainstay of the Syroco company through the 1940s. Excellent condition with metal bases and felted bottoms, c1930s. Each measures 4 ¾ inches wide x 6 ½ inches tall x 4 inches deep. Sold as a pair only.
