This fabulous hand-colored print is rich in details and expression, portraying a pair of bay carriage horses bolting through a Victorian street with their handler trying to hold on (along with a passenger!). The detail is amazing from the stirred up dust to the little terrier running for his life. I cannot find a lot of information on this print, it appears to have the initials J.C. in the lower right corner and then 1847; the left corner appears to show Roberts – unsure who the artist is. I was told that the print is from the 1900s or even a bit older, someone put a simple greyish mat and older wood frame, presented under glass. Good antique condition, there is a small “seam” down the middle of the picture and the back of the picture definitely got wet at one time and should be replaced; there may be some light water mark that made it to the actual wood cut but I cannot tell if this is part of the coloring of the print so please look closely at the pictures. C1920s, measures 26 ½ x 19 ¼ inches.
