A simply lovely Equestrian rendering for the Gentleman of the time, the perfect place to place his pipe and tobacco, or even dresser décor to place his brushes, tie clips and cuff links. Shields Fifth Avenue was a very short-lived company who opened in 1940 and closed their doors in 1960, but for a number of years they were the sought-after label for Men’s Jewelry and watches, as well as fine accessories such as this smoking caddy. Imported from Japan for their discriminating clients, this fine porcelain horse has expressive artistic detail, and the recessed horse shoe and bucket are beautifully made to hold precious accessories. This caddy is in very good vintage condition, no marks or stamps but based on my experience I do know the origins of this piece. Made in Japan, circa 1950s, measures 6 ½ inches tall x 7 inches long x 5 ½ inches wide.
