Relko began making rocking horses in the 1970s in England and after much success and amazing growth they decided to relocate to New Zealand in 1983. These rocking horses were made in Tauranga under master craftsman Angus Parker of wooden laminated construction and treated with a clear sealant that produces an entirely original natural muscled effect. This laminated wooden construction gives the rocking horse great strength and they can withstand extremes in humidity and temperature which you do not see with block carved horses. No two rocking horses are alike as they are all hand-made and come with real leather tack that is detachable; real horse hair manes and tails and expressive glass eyes, can hold up to 150 lbs. The wood responds to wax polish and if badly scratched can be touched up with clear polyurethane. Very good vintage condition with the following note: The stirrup leather on the right side has come apart and is shorter than the left side (just needs to be replaced). This is their size Medium and measures 60 inches long and 36 inches high, marked 16 2000 and Relko New Zealand. This is an investment that will give pleasure to generations of children or families in general.
