Beautiful pair of matching rosettes with the Pony Express riders facing each other/facing front when worn on a bridle, hard to find! Though bridle rosettes have been around for at least 2000 years, they came into fashion during the Victorian era and were even turned into jewelry and accessories after their hey-day ended in the 1940s and 1950s. These rosettes were manufactured by the H.A. Chapman company based out of White Bear Lake, Minnesota who manufactured harness accessories from about the 1940s through 1994. Real glass dome with green foil back and dimensional bay horse with pony express rider, tin (or aluminum?) base with leather keeper, stamped H.A. Chapman on back. Although this is a matched image set, these rosettes were manufactured during different decades – one was from the 1960s and the other from the 1950s (there are slight differences in the images if you look closely and rosettes without a zip code stamped on the back are pre-1963) A lovely set for your favorite bridle or they make a fabulous gift for the equestrian in your life. Each measure 1 ¾ round x 1 ¼ thick, inches.
