Franz O’Stückenberg was a German artist (1857-1923) and though he preferred to draw images from nature, he also appreciated the humor that can be found in sporting pursuits – in this case the highly popular fox hunt. Or should I say hare hunt? The title translates to “Finally Alone”, obviously this horse has had enough of the hunt and his rider! This stunning print was reproduced by Von Kolbe and Schlicht in Dresden. It is hard to date this picture because the artist died in 1923 and there is not an image like this (or much of his art at all) out there for comparison. Due to the dating of the frame this print appears to be from the 1930s, but it could be from a decade or so earlier. Presented under glass with a simple brown frame, Black paper backing (tearing off) and straight wire hanger. Image measures approximately 22 x 18, framed measurements are 24 ½ x 20 ½ inches.
