Opening in 1935 in Arklow, Ireland, it was hoped that this pottery would come to supply the entire chinaware and pottery ware needs of the Irish Free State. Throughout the decades challenges arose from the 2nd World War to the budding import markets from China and Japan. Beginning in 1962 the Studio Works Division was created to offer more unique, one-of-a kind pottery and hand-painted images. Sadly, Arklow closed their doors in 1998 after 63 years in business. This fabulous set is testament to their high quality products and brilliant transferware process. Set on white bisque base with gilded rim, fall field hunters with hounds race across these pieces, perfect for the equestrian home! 15 piece Set includes: 4 tea/coffee cups and 4 medium saucers; 1 cup and small saucer; 2 additional cups; 4 dessert plates. Excellent condition, stamped with two different marks: Arklow and Arklow Studio Kraft, Ireland, c1960s and 1970s. Med saucers measure 6 inches across, cups measure 3 x 3 inches, dessert plates measure 7 ¼ inches, the small saucer measures 5 ¾ inches across.
