The John Peel hunting scenes were an instant success when Royal Doulton introduced them in the 1950s – and they are still a sought-after collection all these years later. This collection used fine Bone china which was more robust and lasted longer than the porcelain plates from other collections. Fired in beautiful fall colors of yellow, sienna and umber; trimmed in hunter green, exceptionally rendered hunting scenes complete with scarlet-coated huntsmen and well-dressed sidesaddle ladies, and of course the hunting hounds! This 5 piece set includes 1 dinner plate, 1 bread/butter plate, 1 creamer and two 6 oz juice tumblers. The set is in very good condition with the following notes: The plate surface on the dinner plate has become a little dull; one of the tumblers has a stress crack (smooth to the touch and still useable but damage nonetheless). Stamp is Royal Doulton, c1950s. Plate measures 10 ¼ inches, bread/butter plate measure 7 inches, creamer measures 3x3 inches, tumblers measure 3 ½ x 2 ½ inches.
