This rare antique full color aquatint engraving is by the artist G H Laporte and engraved by John Harris III, published by Messrs Fores on March 1, 1844. The print series is the British Stud and the subject is Race Horses, and there are approximately 5 plates in this series. This is an original engraving from 1844, as can be seen by the raised grooves in the corners of the paper. Hand-colored and finished, this is an exceptional work of art that is usually found at British Antique auction houses only. This engraving features Sir Hercules and Beeswing, both prominent British Racing sires in the early 1800s. Print measures approximately 24x32, framed size is 35 x 27 inches.
