Dimensional silhouette art was all the rage from the mid-1800s to the first part of the twentieth century. Lovely backdrops were used and then curved glass with black-painted silhouettes were set atop and framed, and images like these decked many Victorian homes (just look closely at the Christmas Carol movies!). Lovely image of a fox hunter on his bay steed with hounds hot on the trail, black painted foliage and fencing adds the perfect dimension. Simple bronze frame, missing hanger on back. Very good condition, no marks or stamps, c1920s. Measures 4x5 inches.
