Exquisite and rare ceramic sculpture by Kay Finch, who was famous for her Crown Crest Afghan Hounds, Salukis and Whippets. She created pottery in her home in Corona Del Mar, California between 1939 and 1963. She worked closely with Anthony Freeman McFarlin, founded by Gerald McFarlin and Maynard Anthony Freeman in 1927 and they operated McFarlin Potteries in El Monte, California until 1975 when they sold to Hagen Renaker. This Whippet is finished in gold leaf, with some red showing through and this is not considered a flaw – The red coating under the leaf was used to give the gold leaf a very vibrant color, and this one has stood the test of time, loved by a single family since the 1950s. Kay Finch, California is stamped on the bottom, excellent condition, c1950s. Measures 12 ¾ tall x 7 ½ long x 4 ½ wide inches.
