This elegant sculpture shows exceptional detail and texture, a true testament to the fine craftsmanship of the Dresden artisans of the Victorian era. Cast in fine porcelain with hand-painted finish, our young 18th century equestrienne is riding her handsome dapple grey hunter surrounded by her loyal hunting hounds, floral skirt billowing about, bright scarlet coat and cocked (tricorne) hat; lovely golden locks, black boots with golden spurs, just so many fabulous details in this stunning piece. Carl Thieme had been running his own porcelain studio and antique shop in the center of Dresden in 1864; he decided to manufacture his own porcelain and founded the Gründerzeit factory in the village of Potschappel and in 1872 started producing his own white porcelain and luxury porcelain items. This statue is from the late 1800s and is in excellent antique condition; blue underglazed crown and made in Germany blue stamp on bottom, c1890-1900. Measures 13 inches long x 12 inches tall x 7 inches wide.
