This retired Library book was published by Beckley-Cardy Company out of Chicago in 1952, and was considered a children’s special reading book with a little larger print, colorful illustrations and an easy-to-follow plot. This is the 4th in a series of 8 books that were written about Cowboy Sam, a horseman who ran a ranch in the west. This book tells the story of Porky, a horse who loved to eat more than anything else and how none of the other cowboys thought he was worth much; but one day he is tested and found out to be a very good horse after all. Hardcover with 64 pages, c1952. Very good condition with the following notes: There is some writing and a school library stamp on the inside cover pages, and a signed name on the back inside cover page; some of the individual pages have clear tape on them to repair a rip and was done very well (no yellowing). Illustrated by Jack Merryweather.
