It all started in the 1950s when Jim Beam was looking for a way to sell excess 10-yr old liquor; Vodka companies were staking a claim on the American South and Whiskey sales were plummeting. Jim Beam needed a gimmick to get people to buy the alcohol they were aging in expectation of a big pay out. Enter collectible decanters: Between 1955 and 1992 Jim Beam collaborated with the Illinois-based ceramics company Regal China to produce thousands of decanters. This lovely decanter is from 1975 and celebrates the World’s fastest harness track called the Red Mile, celebrating their 100 year anniversary in 1975. This decanter is in great condition with some scrapes to the red finish in a couple of places (see pictures) and the cork/top has been sealed, C1975. Measures 7 ½ inches wide x 2 ½ inches deep x 9 ¼ inches tall.
