Founded in 1952 in Traverse City, IL, the Burwood Products company became known for their decorative wall plaques with figures in relief made from their trade-marked Burwood which was heavy and almost indestructible, made up of a composite of pulp and resin. Almost Art-Deco in feel, their designs ranged from simple floral/fauna patterns to animals and Family Crests and were sold throughout the US in home décor stores; this company was out of business by the early 1990s. Beautiful and heavy square plaques with gallant rearing horses in relief, redwood and teal colors, with an etched floral backdrop and tiered presentation. Simple sawtooth hanger on back, sold as a pair only and both are in excellent condition. C1960s, each measure 13 ½ x 13 ½ x 1 inch.
