Hammered Brass & Copper plates like this were the signature product of a few different English foundaries and based on Belgian designs of rural village life. Items made after 1960 were stove lacquered with a durable and high luster finish. You will see very similar scenes with varying manufacturers throughout the 1960s and 1970s, although the majority of the ones on the vintage market are, indeed, from the original foundries in England. This plate is made from a brass composite, hammered and molded in 3-dimensional detail, showing huntsmen in the field navigating hedges in full cry with their hounds– note the more modern helmets the hunters wear compared to the top hats of the Victorian era. Great condition, simple hanger on back, made in England, C 1960s. Plate measures 11 ½ inches round.
