This self-published book is an entertaining read, delving into the life of Alf Strange, who has been a village blacksmith since the 1940s, and the stories he heard while following his father and grandfather around - who were also blacksmiths before the beginning of the century. Rich in memories about Welsh village life Alf was worried that many of the hilarious tales he has heard and told over the years would be lost in a rapidly changing community, so he started writing them down. After suffering a heart attack in 1980, he returned from the hospital to finish the job. Softcover with 158 pages and 15 black and white photographs, published by Gee and Son, Denbigh. Excellent condition with some slight wear marks on the cover – inside pages are pristine. 3rd printing from 1983.
