Noritake China was founded in 1904 in the village of Noritake, Japan – although at that time the company was known as Nippon Toki Gomei Kaisha and did not become Noritake Company Ltd until 1981. Over the years Noritake has continued to improve china manufacturing technology and many are now marketed my separate Noritake divisions, such as Keltcraft, that is manufactured in Ireland. The Pursuit 9170 pattern was sold from 1988 – 1998 and is now retired and highly collectible as vintage serve-ware. The pattern is made of fine bone china, deep hunter green border with oval insets illustrating various game – from foxes to quail and ducks; the pursuit pattern illustrates mounted hunters with their hounds passing a brick farmhouse in the country in washed pastel shades of green and brown with a grey-clouded sky. This set includes the following: 12 dinner plates (10.5 inches), 2 Vegetable bowls (9 x 3 ½ inches), 1 Chop plate/round platter (12 inches) and 1 Gravy boat (5x4x3 ½ inches) with saucer (6 inches).
