Back in the day (like the 1960s) Talbots and Carroll Reed were the places to shop for preppy girls and their catalogs were eagerly anticipated each season. The Carroll Reed stores are long gone (at one time they had up to 54); they were started by Carroll Purinton Reed who built his company around skiing in the 1960s. His chain was sold in 1969 and through various buyouts eventually was owned by D.M. Management, who owns J Jill. Perhaps J Crew was a possible replacement for this brand in the 1980s, but suffice it to say the preppy look continued thru the 1990s when the brand drastically changed and is all but unrecognizable today. Lovely poly-blend skirt with a burgundy square floral print and fabulous hunt scene illustrated hem in beige and olive tones with blue-coated field hunters; front wrap panel, simple banded waist with elastic panels in back, top tailored seams, button + zipper rear closure, polyester lining, excellent condition. Size 10, 1980s.
