These wooden horse pieces are from a derby game that came out in the 1950s and originally came with a wooden board or printed cloth with racing lanes and the players used dice or cards to move their horses to the finish line. The rules supported a game of odds so there was certainly more to it than that, but all that remains of the original set today are these fabulous race horse game pieces. It would be quite fun to create your own family game and your own rules, or just use these as a nice décor/collage piece for your home. Solid wood galloping horses cut out with names of famous race horses. Note: The original set had 6 horses, this set is missing the “Hot Cha!” race horse. C1950s, each horse measures 4 ½ long x 2 ¾ tall x ¾ inches wide. Eddie Canter, Rumba, tipperary, Funny Face and Prosperity.
