This book was written as part of the Animal Agricultural Series created by Dr. M E. Ensminger- Director of the Horse Science School in Clovis, California- in 1951. This book is the 3rd edition printing that came out in 1963 and was reprinted in April of 1964; the author provides a preface addressing the change in philosophy that has occurred since his original writing of the book. 16 chapters cover everything from the history and development of the horse industry to feeding, breeding and horsemanship. Though this book is written from the educated doctorate view, it is full of useful resources still viable today as well as a beneficial glimpse into how the horse was being incorporated into our changing demographics 70 years ago. Excellent condition, hardcover, 1964. Published by the Interstate Printers and Publishers, inc out of Danville, Illinois, 583 pages.
