A beautifully matched pair of framed lithographs from 1953 and from the Turf and Blugrass portfolio Mr. Anderson created between 1950 and 1952. Clarence William Anderson was born in Wahoo, Nebraska in 1891 and created a life as an author and illustrator of children’s books; perhaps he is best known for his “Billy & Blaze” series of illustrated stories, but by the time he passed in 1971 he had created over 35 horse books! This stunning pair of framed prints are signed by C.W. Anderson in the lower left side, and stamped Corp. A Fox 1953, Litho USA on the lower right corner. Both prints originated in Ohio with the framer’s name and address listed on back, as well as a personal inscription to the person these were gifted to in 1955. Beautiful serene thoroughbred mares tend to their future champions in these soft, vintage prints with a simple chestnut wood frame and glass. Each measures 12 x 16 ½, very good vintage condition. Sold in pair only.
