Foxhunting was perhaps the most coveted sport for the elite from the early 1800s thru the early 1900s, with many splendidly-dressed horsemen and horsewomen pursuing the elusive fox across the countryside on an given Sunday. These two prints are beautifully presented in a black frame with gilded inset, double mats under glass. The Fox Hunt Inn shows dapper men taking a much-needed break at the local pub, Ladies Hunt shows elegant riders on a bay and black accompanying the huntsmen and hounds. Unknown artist, there were a lot of landscape and sporting illustrators/painters during this time frame and most of the prints we see now are open-edition lithographs. C 1970s, each measures 11x13 inches. Sold as a pair only.
