Ludwig Beckmann (1822-1903) was a German artist from Düsseldorf who was widely renowned for his painting and illustrations of nature and animals, and his animal studies in particular were beautiful and precise, featured in many books, journals and magazines of his time. This image is from an original wood engraving from the 1880s that was printed when the original owner was stationed in Germany. Using acid-free paper the image shows a crafty fox stealing seabird eggs on the seashore with excellent definition and detail, ready for your custom frame. C1970s, measures 8 ½ x 10 inches.
